Well, this is as obsessive as it gets. This is a very subjective, extremely
personal list of all the Season Six episodes I've seen so far, arranged in
order of preference... rated according to my own happy little mind. <g> The
shippiness rating is on a scale of one to five, for the episode in general,
or for the behaviour of each agent during the ep.

Shippiness is expected here, as it is in the rest of my site. Pathetically
enough, some of my favourite eps of the season *are* my favourites simply
because of the brilliant interaction between M&S which makes my heart swoon
and turn into sugary goo.

Noromos... run fast, run far, or come in and be converted!

22) TERMS OF ENDEARMENT - cheesy, poorly-executed, few M&S moments
Shippiness Rating: *no* sugar packets... Mulder was too demanding here.
He kept Scully awake till an incomprehensible hour of
the morning doing *his* research while he slept. Oh,
and Mulder is sent to sit in the corner like the
naughty little boy he is for so callously making
Scully dig up *baby* skeletons (thanks, Caz, for
                       pointing this out!)
    M&S were predominantly: Impulsive!Mulder and Disbelieving!Scully

21) ALPHA - unclear, dog looked too cute, filler space
Shippiness Rating: half a sugar packet... Scully bristled. Yum. ;)
    M&S were predominantly: Trusting!Mulder and Territorial!Scully (or
Jealous!Scully, call it what you will.)

20) THE BEGINNING - all the right ingredients of a power-packed mytharc ep,
                    but a very wrong product
Shippiness Rating: one big ol' sugar packet - that's all they're
getting. And it's due *only* to Scully for actually
mentioning the hallway moment in FTF. Mulder gets a
very annoyed shipper's third finger in the universal
                       sign of love.
    M&S were predominantly: Blind!Mulder and HauntedByDemons!Scully

19) TREVOR - good enough plot, not outstanding, little shippiness
Shippiness Rating: a flat two sugar packets. Nothing done to damage the
relationship, but nothing done to improve it either.
    M&S were predominantly: Profiler!Mulder and Skeptical!Scully

18) DRIVE - M&S hardly together at all, quite exciting, average MOTW
Shippiness Rating: one sugar packet for Scully and her (as always)
unfounded anxieties. Minus one for keeping M&S apart
for almost entire ep. Evens out to zero. :)
    M&S were predominantly: Contemplative!Mulder and Worried!Scully

17) AGUA MALA - rather odd ep, very wet
Shippiness Rating: three big sugar packets for Arthur Dales! A man who
recognises the MSR for what it is (and should be, all
the time), and a man who knows just how much Mulder
needs Scully. Mulder gets no sugar packets and a kick
in the ankle for not admitting Scully saved his life.
Scully gets a day off from work for wanting to get
out of the room to save Mulder's sorry ass (she
wasn't allowed to, but that wasn't her fault)
    M&S were predominantly: Spooky!Mulder and Empowered!Scully

16) BIOGENESIS - FOWLEY MUST DIE, beautiful acting by DD and GA, Scully
working for Mulder's quest, effective cliffhanger, very
                 powerful and suggestive
Shippiness Rating: Mulder gets ten for calling out for Scully in his
madness, yelling her name so convincingly. <g>
Scully gets... well, maybe just two, for being
concerned about him and eventually flying to South
Africa. But she was a bit too skeptical in the
early parts of the show to warrant much else.
    M&S were predominantly: Tortured!Mulder and Belief-Challenged!Scully

15) S.R. 819 - powerful acting by Mitch Pileggi, the stuff of S/Sk and M/Sk
               fanfics, more mytharc ambivalence
Shippiness Rating: non-existent. Plenty of tension between Skinner and
Scully, as well as between Mulder and Skinner too.
    M&S were predominantly: Driven!Mulder and Anxious!Scully

14) ONE SON - mytharc mystery, Fowley features, off-the-scale jerkiness
              courtesy of Fox William Mulder
Shippiness Rating: I'm not giving away *any* sugar packets for this one.
In fact, any ones given to Mulder over the next few
eps don't count for what he did here. From me, he
gets a bullet in the groin. Fowley gets six in the
head. But on second thought... that shower scene
(where they both looked each other over, quite
thoroughly) merits five steamy sugar packets. But
since they're so wet, they've dissolved into nothing.
Thanks, Shirlock, for reminding me of this!
    M&S were predominantly: Idiot!Mulder and Independent!Jilted!Scully

13) TWO FATHERS - cleared up some of the mytharc tangle, very little Fowley,
                 CSM good or bad?
Shippiness Rating: Mulder gets one sugar packet for being so welcoming
to Scully at the basketball court. Scully gets one
too for being concerned about him.
    M&S were predominantly: HauntedByDemons!Mulder and Helpful!Scully

12) THREE OF A KIND - absolutely wonderful and hilarious Scully moments,
loved the humour that generally ran through the ep,
the Lone Gunmen kick ass!, GA must have had sooo much
                      fun with this...
Shippiness Rating: since Mulder didn't appear at all, I'm not being
biased in giving him nothing. Scully, OTOH, gets five
sugar packets for not yelling at him for waking her
up, and going all the way to Las Vegas just because
he asked her to. I mean, she does stuff like this all
the time... what's the difference this time, right?
Well, I think it's about time she got recognised for
                       it!
    M&S were predominantly: TotallyLeftOut!Mulder & Stoned!Scully

11) DREAMLAND I - lovely premise, absolutely hilarious, shippy even though
M&S weren't technically together at all
Shippiness Rating: two sugar packets to Mulder for dreaming about Scully,
thinking about Scully, and for trusting Scully with
the truth. Two to Scully for realising at the very end
                      just *who* Mulder really was.
   M&S were predominantly: Henpecked!Mulder and Bewildered!Scully

10) FIELD TRIP - oooh, delicious Scully angst and lots of it!,
hand-holding!, spooning! (though, sadly, not by M&S
<sigh>), beautiful acting by GA, mind-blowing symbolism -
my mind isn't blown yet because I haven't sat down to
think about it...but I expect it will be. :)
Shippiness Rating: ten sugar packets for Scully post-Mulder's "death"...
challenging everyone, trying to keep him alive in
some way. She rocks! Mulder's a bit annoying for
telling her he's right 98.9% of the time (though he
*is* right about that!), but he saved them, and
reached for her at the end, so he gets five! The
                       hand-holding scene gets a *hundred*!!!! Whee! ;)
    M&S were predominantly: Hallucinating!Mulder and WildMushroom!Scully

9) RAIN KING - a tad too cheery, veeery shippy, funny
Shippiness Rating: four sugar packets for Scully, as well as a vacation
to Hawaii... as long as she's thinking about Mulder
when she's making that fine famous speech. Being a
shipper, there is no doubt that's what she was doing.
Mulder gets a very mild wedgie for being clueless, and
one sugar packet for being nice to Holman and Sheila.
   M&S were predominantly: Clueless!Mulder and Contemplative!Scully

8) DREAMLAND II - amazingly shippy, sad, lovely EXCEPT THAT TIME BLOODY WELL
SNAPS BACK INTO STUPID ANNOYING PLACE.
Shippiness Rating: for that one farewell scene, five sugar packets each.
Mulder was so sweet and caring, even with the prospect
of forever in Morris' body. Scully gets an additional
one for actually setting science aside to believe, for
once. In fact, this amazing display of trust on
Scully's behalf requires me to shoot Mulder a second
time in the groin for ONE SON. Mulder is now impotent.
                      <vbeg>
   M&S were predominantly: Noble!Mulder and Loving!Scully

7) ARCADIA - M&S married!!!!, hilarious, wondrous acting, very very poor
             MOTW though
Shippiness Rating: five sugar packets to Mulder for taking full advantage
of the situation (or at least, showing how much he
wants Scully in words). Two to Scully for only
tolerating him and not actually encouraging the man.
<g> A satisfied shipper gives the entire ep a huge
                      five packets!
   M&S were predominantly: Teasing!Mulder and Tolerating!Scully

6) TITHONUS - beautifully Scully-centric, amazing acting (GA and guy playing
Fellig), nice juxtaposition of Ritter and Scully
Shippiness Rating: uh... a pretty flat ep in terms of shippiness, since
M&S were forcibly separated. However, Mulder gets
three sugar packets for caring so much for Scully, and
for threatening Peyton Ritter's life (Ritter nearly
killed a goddess, for bleep!!'s sake! yells the
delusional person who is *not* a Scullyist. Of
                      course.)
   M&S were predominantly: LeftOutInTheCold!Mulder and
                           HauntedByMortality!Scully

5) MONDAY - great acting by DD & GA, shippy enough, nice reference to
Dreamland re the waterbed, very artfully executed
Shippiness Rating: five sugar packets for just the very first Monday.
Scully also gets five for holding Mulder so tenderly,
and begging for his life in tears. She also gets a
brand new gun and her own office in the F.B.I.
building. Mulder gets a neutral pat on the head for
not alienating her or doing anything stupid.
   M&S were predominantly: Believer!Mulder and Waterbed?Scully

4) THE UNNATURAL - brilliant scripting and directing job by DD, lots of
laughs, and are we talking shippy here 'cos shippy is
what this fantastic ep is and it's positively lovely and
                   I'm getting carried away here aren't I!
Shippiness Rating: Mmm... a million each to Mulder, Scully and the ep,
for treating us to that delightful non-fat tofutti
rice dreamsicle exchange, and the absolutely amazing
beautiful heart-warming baseball lesson as birthday
present disguised as shippers' heaven scene. Phew.
                      I'm... tired.
   M&S were predominantly: Baseball!Mulder and Playful!Scully

3) MILAGRO - absolutely lovely acting by GA, a very antsy Mulder, a kooky
MOTW, dealt with the theme of obsession very nicely (talk about
             being the *ultimate* Scullyist!)
Shippiness Rating: uh, this is tough. I'm tempted to give the entire ep
ten for Scully's tortured (and very angst-filled!)
hugging of Mulder at the end, not to mention dear
Padgett's "Agent Scully is already in love." But the
darkness pervading the ep requires me to scale that
down and be less a rabid shipper than normal. Maybe...
                      nine, then. :)
   M&S were predominantly: Skeptical!Territorial!Mulder and
                           Traumatised!Scully

2) TRIANGLE - oooooooooooooooooooh! shippers' dream, beautiful lines, yummy
Mulder lines, the idea of a love that spans generations,
wonderful real time filming, CC is a god, tops!, GA fantastic
Shippiness Rating: six hundred sugar packets for the episode, a million
to Mulder for uttering those three little words, and a
meagre five (well, relatively!) to Scully for risking
everything for Mulder. Lovely, romantic feel.
                      THROUGHOUT.
   M&S were predominantly: Puppydog!Mulder and Kickass!Scully

and what you've read this entire list for... my favourite Season Six episode
so far!!! <huge drumroll...>

1) HOW THE GHOSTS STOLE CHRISTMAS - wonderful guest stars, beautiful
storyline, exchanging of trust and X'Mas
                                    gifts, amaaaaaazing acting, laced with
                                    beauty and symbolism, quiet excellence
Shippiness Rating: about ten sugar packets for the entire ep, since it
dealt with the theme of everlasting love and being
together forever (in a novel way, might I add!). Each
agent gets five for the implicit trust that existed
between them (and ultimately saved them, IMO), plus
three years' bonus in their salaries and five months'
off from work to cavort in the Caribbean together
because of the simple yet beautiful exchanging of
X'Mas gifts at the end. *lol* I'm NOT getting carried
                      away, I'm not!
M&S were predominantly: Lonely!Mulder and Lonely!Scully (though she
didn't know it and only maybe, just maybe,
                           admitted it at the end)

Well, that's it for the season! I created this list June 24 1999, which was
a Thursday. It was last updated on August 3 1999, which was a Tuesday. I'm
pining slowly away for the season seven opener, and maybe I'll maintain a
similar list for it whenever I should get to watch it. In the meantime, I
guess I'll just have to make do with reading and writing more and more
fanfic. <vbg>

Looking forward to it already!
