STARS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR
- version with dustjacket (spoilers!)

I don't like revealing too much about this fic when people ask me what it's about -- I'm not about to spill everything now. :) This was one of the most enjoyable fic-writing processes I've ever had... it was short (too short!), but one of those magical times when the words and ideas flow out and into each other. I hope you enjoy!

LIGHTER SHADE OF PALE

Written late one March night in an Italian youth hostel <g>, this fic was partly inspired by my vacation reading, Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway (an awesome book, btw). It's a departure in style for me, a complete experiment, so you can imagine just how much hand-holding I needed to post it! I had an awesome beta crew though, and thanks must go to bugs for providing the title. She claims it's the title of a song I'm too young to remember. ;){lyrics}

CERTIFIABLY NORMAL

This fic took so long to be publicised it's not even remotely funny. Stop smiling. Seriously, it's hard to believe I've been sitting on this for months... and the number of versions I've had of this! Grr. I don't want to lose some of the older, even more disgustingly schmoopy versions, so I've got one which is fairly complete up as a link in the fic's sub- (and original) title, "You Make Me" (site exclusive, no less! <snicker>).

PAST MELTING

My first attempt at answering a Scullyfic challenge -- take my word for it, it's difficult incorporating five disparate elements into a coherent, and hopefully still effective, story. On top of that, this was written from Diana Fowley's POV. <eg> It's not easy, bringing a character you usually hate (and don't particularly believe in) to life and making her sympathetic. I can only hope that this is as believable as I want it to be.

IF I WERE YOU

Just a touch of angst at last, my first new post in months! I can't believe it's been so long since I wrote something worth publicising <g>. Anyway, I loved the same-titled song which inspired this, and I hope I managed to weave the idea into the Mulder-Scully dynamic well. This will be fondly remembered as the last story I wrote before the reality of university finally set in! :)

RUNNING AFTER RAINBOWS

More fluff, but slightly more troublesome fluff than usual. This story went through quite a few revisions, more so than any other fic thus far. I loved the banter in it, even though it's usually pretty hard for me to say I like my own stuff. :) For me, RAR conjures up happy images of rainbows and Mulder and Scully smiling... and on a sad day, that's a good thing.

LESSON NUMBER TWO

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm posting fluff again. This is an unadulterated piece of fluff with almost no plot at all - just something I thought would fit in nicely at the end of The Unnatural. It's probably not as good as the many other post-eps out there, but I still hope it'll hit home with some people... <g> No pun intended there, really!

BALM OF SILENCE

This is not actually my official Milagro fic. My first idea for a story after I watched that episode has yet to materialise anywhere else but in my dreams. This is a short vignette, one that works through the power of its words, I think. I find that reading it aloud actually makes me feel better about it. This fic is also memorable in that I tried a different style of telling the story with it. I wonder if I succeeded...?

TOUCHED BY DARKNESS

I've actually used more thematic Literature lessons from my school days in this one than ever before. Subconsciously, though, I assure you. I've edited this through so many times, trying to get it perfect, that I'm pretty sure it's anything but that now. <g> Feedback greatly appreciated!

WAKING UP FORGOTTEN (155 Words)

Ah, me being brief. Worth the read just to see that, isn't it?

NOT THAT DIFFERENT

Another treatment of Mulder's 'jerkiness' in "One Son". I'm just starting to ease back into some angst now, and it seems oddly appropriate that this is just the beginning of a series of journal entries... written by Mulder, and addressed to Scully. Oh... and here's the song, sung by Collin Raye, that inspired this.

COMING TOGETHER

It's no use saying that Mulder didn't damage Scully that night in "One Son". He did damage her... body, soul and spirit. And he should mend it. He broke their relationship, that much I gleaned even before I watched the episode personally. This was written before I saw what I've seen now. Also written without ep transcripts, based on 'impressions' of what Mulder had done to Scully. Tell me if it works.

WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS (Make Lemonade!)

Pure promiscuous fluffpiece, this, with almost no redeeming plot. I'm sorry about that. But it was great fun writing it, bringing new meaning to the term 'dirty mind' in the process. Amazingly enough, I managed to couch the entire thing in euphemisms... tell me how many you spotted! A nice safe PG-13!

LIVEWIRE
- illustrated version

"Rain King" is the first ep for which I have written two post-ep fics! Amazing! Anyway, this is my more normal, frog-free take on that episode, two bittersweet vignettes about lost chances and utter Mulder-denseness. And like I promised before... this is based on that speech Scully gave in the Kroner County bathroom. Mmmmmm. Warm, fuzzy, shippy place.

CHASE THE COLD AWAY

Finally! The last story rounding off the loose trilogy also consisting of Eyes On You and Can You Smell The Rain?! Expect the same level of shippy sweetness, except this story's longer than the previous two combined. Scully's POV, intense introspection followed by spooning. Ah. My favourite kind of fluff. ;)

FROG TO SWAN

My first post-ep piece for "Rain King". This story is a little odd, a little angsty, a little funny... I can't really classify it, though I try. Mulder's POV, a frog talking to his swan... in vain? Maybe not. Inspired by one line in the episode (no, not that one, that comes a little later!!!)

EYES ON YOU
- illustrated version

Sort of a companion piece to Can You Smell The Rain?. If you must be picky, it's a prequel, and comes before it. It works just fine as a stand-alone piece, though. Anyway, it's fluffy again, and sweet, I hope. Lyrics to the song, Eyes On Me, which gave me the title for this - also available here.

CAN YOU SMELL THE RAIN?

Yet another irrevocable step into the world of fluff, in its own quirky way. This was inspired by a Chinese song, whose title roughly translates to Small, Small Sun. I'll transcribe and translate the lyrics soon, and put them up here. While biting my nails waiting for my exams results and simultaneously allowing my brain to atrophy, I found that smile therapy is often the best way to go. :)

CALL IT, SCULLY
illustrated version

One of my truest fluff pieces to date. In fact, I think this was the one that started it all, what I like to think of as my Fluff Period. It captures a nice and (I hope) romantic moment between Mulder and Scully, something we don't get too often. Deprived depressed shippers, this one's for you.

[Added April 1, 1999]

DOOMED

Another post-ep fic. This one takes place at the end of the second episode of the sixth season, "Drive". I loved the fast-paced action of the ep, but felt that it didn't quite resolve Mulder's feelings after he got out of that car. My attempt to fix that, here. :)

[Added March 25, 1999]

AND A GOOD NIGHT IT WAS

A post-ep semi-humour, semi-angsty, semi-sappy fic, this one took on a life of its own and didn't give me the shippiness I originally intended for it. I still like it though, because the characters told the story they wanted to tell, and didn't let me meddle too much with them. Spooning alert.

[Added March 22, 1999]

IN TIME

That's what I think of when I think about this vignette. It's based on the episode, "The Field Where I Died", which threw quite a few shippers for a loop. Scully's POV again - she contemplates her unique relationship with Mulder in a rather abstract way. I loved the idea of choosing the person you want to spend your life with... and since Mulder never actually mentioned that to Scully, I thought it would be nice to have Scully think of it herself.

[Added March 1, 1999]

NEVER LET YOU GO

Yes yes, it's a Scully death-piece... don't say I didn't warn you. My mind was a much darker and more miserable creature a year ago, and in the depths of exam tragedy (as I recall), I wrote this. I still consider it one of my best, even though the characterisation isn't spot-on and I left out huge chunks of Mulder and Scully's history with each other. That has more to do with my coming late to the show than not wanting to include it, though.
